Be Awesome

This space is intended for awesome people only. This doesn’t mean that you have a killer social media following, that you’re in a band, or that you’ve been published more times than you can count. Awesomeness has nothing to do with any of that. Awesomeness is kindness and trustworthiness. Awesomeness is being a decent person whose actions help a community function successfully.

So don’t be not awesome. It won’t be a good fit.

Be Courteous

This is a shared space. It only works when we all play a role in keeping it clean and functioning properly for everyone. It’s a simple concept, but sometimes it needs to be communicated in clear terms. So here they are!

Booking Your Sessions

This studio is intended for part-time studio shooters only. If you’re a full-time studio shooter, this is not the place for you. To ensure open availability to everyone, monthly/yearly renters (studio partners) may book no more than the equivalent of the proportionate number of half-day blocks available, unless consent to book more is received from all other studio partners. A half-day block (or HDB) is approximately a 4-5 hour time frame. Maximum usage time breaks down something like this:

  • 4 partners = 15 half-day blocks per person (approximately 68 hours)

  • 3 partners = 20 half-day blocks per person (approximately 90 hours total)

  • 2 partners = 30 half-day blocks per person (approximately 135 hours total)

As a courtesy to others, partners may book no more than two Saturday HDBs and no more than two Sunday HDBs per month. Although not required, partners are encouraged to book sessions for AM or PM slots as opposed to midday slots, especially during peak usage times. This shared usage method may be reevaluated if and when necessary to ensure fair availability to all partners and renters.

Update the online calendar any time there is a change to your scheduled slot (time change, cancellation, etc.) to ensure accurate usage times. Book the calendar slot for the time you plan to arrive for setup through the time you plan to leave after teardown. You may not rent, sell, or supply slots to others. You must be on-site during your time slot. You are financially responsible for any damage that takes place during your time slot.

After Each Session

  • Trash must be placed in proper receptacles. Completely remove any oversized trash items and any potentially unpleasant items such as food waste, diapers, etc.

  • Check the kitchen area, bathroom, and changing/makeup room to ensure that all areas are clean and fresh for the next user and their clients. Clean the coffee machine if you made coffee. Refill the ice trays if you’ve used ice. You know… leave no trace.

  • Props and gear must be stored away so the area is clear and reset for the next user. If there is no other scheduled user between two consecutive blocks that you have scheduled and you would like to leave your gear set up, please contact all studio partners to receive consent to leave props/gear in place.

  • Restocking drinks and snacks is left to the honor system. Please be cognizant of usage and contribute at least as much as you and your clients consume (coffee, water, snacks, etc.). Mark with your initials any items that are NOT intended to be used by others; respect items that are marked with another person’s initials. Please do not use more than your fair share of space in the refrigerator and cabinets.

  • Lock up! Be absolutely certain that the storage room is locked, the garage door is closed (but not locked), and the front door is locked. Failure to follow this guideline is a serious safety hazard and a violation of your lease agreement.

Be Honest

The vision for this space is to be a successful, accessible, functional facility that supplies you with everything you need while supplying me with the means to fund it. That means it needs to work for you and for me. So please be open with me if something isn’t perfect for you and your clients.

Honest people keep their word. And their lease agreements.

Rent is due on the first day of each month. Rent more than four days late will incur $25.00 fee. Rent and/or late fee more than a week late will result in key code access being removed (reinstated when rent is paid with late fee). Only the named renter, one assistant, and renter’s subjects/clients may use the space during their scheduled calendar time; monthly renters may not sublease or block off time for uses other than activities related to working with clients (shooting, meeting/sales sessions) unless requested and permitted by the owner.

All renters must provide current proof of liability insurance. Don’t have insurance yet? I’ll happily give you a referral to a great and affordable agent who can set you up before you step foot into the building.
